Committee agrees to combine Lyons projects in Letter of Intent for $100M Empire State Development grant

Brian Pincelli, Economic Development and Planning Director, briefed the Committee on the County Infrastructure Grant Program on Feb. 4, explaining its purpose and statewide funding availability.
Pincelli said the program provides funding for smaller‑scale infrastructure projects that support placemaking, housing development and tourism and that "Empire State Development will make up to $100 million available statewide for county‑led infrastructure projects, with enhanced funding opportunities for projects that support housing creation." He reported that he solicited potential project ideas from town supervisors in early December and received six proposals for consideration; multiple projects may be combined in a Letter of Intent but only one application can be submitted.
With an application deadline of April 1, the Committee discussed which project to advance. Supervisor Dave Fantuzzo suggested submitting a Letter of Intent that combines the two proposed Lyons projects; other Committee members agreed and Pincelli confirmed he will proceed with submitting the combined LOI.
