The council adopted ordinance 21-49, which amends village code to create an administrative process for establishing one-sided parking restrictions on designated streets by later resolution. Staff presented the ordinance as a tool to address emergency-access problems in older subdivisions where streets were built narrower than current standards.
Staff noted the ordinance "does not itself prohibit parking on any village street" but instead "authorizes the village council to establish one-sided parking restrictions by resolution" and directs the Department of Public Works to install signs and pursue multiple streams of resident notification before restrictions go into effect. Council approved the ordinance on a roll-call vote and said further neighborhood-specific resolutions will be presented later.
