EDA discusses Shenandoah Valley Foods processing facility and potential $1 million IRF grant

Nina Fox, Director of Economic Development and Tourism for Page County, reported that Shenandoah Valley Foods is continuing work to establish a meat processing facility at 420 South Third Street in the Town of Shenandoah and that the EDA is supporting a grant application to the Industrial Revitalization Fund.
"If approved, she said a grant up to $1 million would be administered by the Department of Housing and Community Development to the Page County EDA for the Shenandoah Valley Foods facility." Fox added that if the EDA receives grant funds, the authority would loan them to Shenandoah Valley Foods and then recycle repayments into loans for other county businesses. She noted the General Assembly had not yet approved funding for the IRF program and that a tentative application window was projected to open in May and close in July.
Dennis Fleming, an EDA member who said he was speaking as an investor in Shenandoah Valley Foods, summarized logistics and production plans and said the company was holding a board meeting later that evening to consider additional site improvements, including a proposed walking path linking the Shenandoah Community Library to Big Gem Park.
