Barbara Lee Van Parson, representing the Momentum Center, used the first public-comment period to highlight activities for Suicide Awareness Month.
Van Parson told commissioners the Momentum Center will hold a free dinner at 5:00 p.m. with a film screening at 6:00 p.m. and that the film — a PG-13 title addressing teen suicide — will be shown with a trigger warning and followed by community discussion. She also announced a free Sept. 29 town hall on mental health and parenting, and described a newly launched volunteer "well-being collective" offering community sessions. "Stillness, presence, kindness," she said, urging residents not to struggle alone.
Van Parson provided a web address for event details and encouraged residents to participate and to use the center's resources. The announcement was made during the board's first public-comment period as part of routine community updates to the commissioners.
