Wilkes County delays public hearing on Bevara 'Project Pressure' until June 16

The Wilkes County Board of Commissioners on June 2 unanimously agreed to postpone a public hearing on a proposed Economic Investment Agreement for "Project Pressure" — known in the transcript as Bevara — until June 16, 2026. County Attorney Tony Triplett said the notice had not been advertised soon enough and the agreement was not ready for public review.
"This Public Hearing needed to be postponed until June 16, 2026," Triplett told the board, and he said he had since completed the agreement and forwarded copies to the Economic Development Commission and the Town of Wilkesboro for review. Vice Chairman Evan Handy moved to reset the hearing; the motion was seconded by Commissioner Casey Johnson and approved unanimously. The Town of Wilkesboro had held its hearing the night before and approved the agreement, Triplett said.
