Kevin Rooney, Superintendent of Public Works, told the Wayne County Public Works Committee on Feb. 4 that the county’s 2025 snow-and-ice budget was roughly $2.15 million and that expenditures left the line about $443,000 short.
Rooney thanked Town Highway Superintendents for their assistance in responding to winter events. He said the 2025 budget year is closed so the department cannot make a formal adjustment now and that he plans to ‘‘over‑budget’’ this line in future budget cycles to avoid continued use of departmental reserves.
