Public Defender reports $180,000 in state reimbursement requests; paid summer intern hired

Public Defender Andy Correia told the Wayne County Public Safety Committee on Feb. 3 that the office submitted roughly $180,000 in state reimbursement requests for the last quarter of 2025, including an approximately $24,000 claim for the CAFA4 ILS Grant.
Correia said Ms. Wilson from the Treasurer’s Office also submitted reimbursement requests in the same quarter and that State Distribution 13 funding is split between a part-time position and the Adult Diversion Program. He added that the office has offered and filled a paid summer intern position. The update was heard during routine departmental reports and no committee questions were recorded.
