County says asbestos permits underway for bank building; HHS space decision pending

During the July 28 meeting, officials reported that Christner Contracting is completing permit work to remove asbestos from the county bank building. Chair Darren Batterson noted the board does not yet have a firm renovation plan because Human Services (HHS) has not finalized its space needs.
The board said a meeting with HHS is scheduled for August 3, 2026, to clarify how much space HHS will require; until that information is available supervisors indicated they will not finalize the building layout or scope of work.
