Jennifer Brzowski, director of the Ottawa County Community Action Agency, told commissioners: "Due to the ongoing federal shutdown, OCA is experiencing unknowns regarding funding for multiple programs." She warned that CSBG and LIHEAP cuts would imperil services including emergency assistance, food-security programs and weatherization that helped more than 5,000 Ottawa County residents in 2024. Commissioners debated whether to name the specific grants and ultimately adopted wording asking federal officials to "provide funding for physical shelter, safety, and food security in line with the federal administration's strategic plan." The board approved the amended resolution in a recorded vote.
