The Salem Township Board unanimously granted final approval for the Westmoreland County Food Bank to construct a building addition with parking on Tax Map Parcel No. 57-12-00-0-087, subject to executing a Stormwater BMP Operations and Maintenance Agreement and adding required recorder-of-deeds and plan-notes to the recorded plan. Solicitor Falatovich said the stormwater O&M agreement must be executed prior to granting final approval.
In related community-development action, the board unanimously affirmed a letter of support to the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources for a Community Conservation Partnership Program (C2P2) grant application from the Regional Trail Corporation seeking funding to acquire 2.660 acres as part of the Westmoreland Heritage Trail Middle Gap initiative.
Supervisors characterized both actions as steps to advance recreation and food-security infrastructure in the township. No votes were recorded against either action.
