Separately, the fire agenda includes large apparatus purchases — a tanker and two pumper engines — which are financed so that payments for the two larger pieces will not begin until delivery in roughly four years. A finance staff member said placing the orders now locks in price and initiates the procurement process.
Commissioners were offered the chance to ask the fire chief questions about the equipment and were reminded these are government purchase contracts and joint procurement arrangements.
