Guest speaker from BHE GT&S asks Salem Township for letter backing Appalachian Reliability Project

Don Hauser of BHE GT&S told the Salem Township Board of Supervisors the Appalachian Reliability Project (ARP) would add producer tie-ins from Westmoreland County and southern Armstrong County that would flow onto interstate markets and require upgrades at the Delmont measurement and regulation (M&R) facility located inside the Oakford Storage Facility.
"Measurement (M) = how much gas is coming into or off the system. Regulation (R) = how the pressure of the gas from the interstate line is regulated to the smaller pipeline that is a lower pressure," Hauser explained while outlining the project's M&R components. He asked the supervisors for a letter of support and said BHE GT&S staff will arrange a tour of the Oakford facility for township officials. He also said the company plans a late-April open house and is considering holding it at either Franklin Regional Middle School or the elementary school central to the planned loop.
The presentation included information about BHE GT&S community engagement and grant opportunities; Hauser said the company's committee meets quarterly and provides funding to local organizations and townships for parks and recreation. Supervisors did not take formal action on the presentation beyond expressing interest in the requested site tour and support letter.
