Planning Commission actions: minutes adopted, three land-use items advanced, short-term rental discussion continued

At its March 24 meeting the Commission adopted minutes as amended, recommended approval of the Checkers LLC SUP to the Board, and sent two other SUP applications to public hearing (April 28). Discussion of a short-term rental registry under Va. Code §15.2-983 was continued with staff directed to seek legal guidance and Board clarification.
The Page County Planning Commission convened March 24, adopted the March 10 minutes with editorial corrections, and handled several land-use items.
The Commission recommended approval of the Checkers LLC special-use permit for guided rappelling (5–0), and scheduled public hearings for the Cody Hoke auto-repair application and the Whiteside–Pence banquet/event facility on April 28. Commissioners also held an extended policy discussion on short-term rentals and the possibility of a public registry under state law. Mr. Johnson moved to adjourn at 8:31 p.m.; the motion passed.
