Council tables RC‑zone ordinance for additional review

The Huntsville Town Council on Jan. 22 heard remarks about proposed amendments to the Recreation (RC) zoning chapter from councilmembers and Planning Commission Chair Allen Endicott before voting to table the ordinance for further review.
TCM Sandy Hunter said the Planning Commission’s revisions were good for campground rules and suggested the commission prepare a letter to the Ogden Boat Club to clarify grandfathering. Planning Commission Chair Allen Endicott told the council the commission had sought to look at land characteristics instead of current ownership when drafting the changes.
Mayor Richard L. Sorensen said he preferred to take more time and moved to table Ordinance 2025‑7‑23; the motion passed 5–0. Councilmembers and the planning commission signaled willingness to revisit the matter at a future meeting, and TCM Truett praised the commission’s work but supported tabling to avoid hasty action.
