Huntsville Town Council on Jan. 22 voted unanimously to approve the Winter Running Series half‑marathon, scheduled for April 4, 2026, and to waive the town’s special‑event fee. The event organizer said the course will use the Pineview Pathway for the first five miles and cross short segments of 100 South and 200 South through Huntsville.
"We will coordinate with the Weber County Sheriff's Office and place flaggers where the trail meets 100 South and at the turnaround point," said Trevor Fuchs of the GOAL Foundation. Fuchs told the council organizers expect roughly 250 to 400 runners to pass through Huntsville between about 8:25 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.
Council members said public safety and minimal traffic disruption were priorities. Mayor Richard L. Sorensen made the motion to approve and TCM Bruce Ahlstrom seconded; all voted aye. The council’s approval included a condition that the town be listed as additionally insured, consistent with the town’s special‑event permit requirements.
Organizers said they would continue coordination with county public‑safety partners and supply a final event and barricade plan to the town staff before April.
