At the Nov. 20 council meeting, Huntsville Culinary Water Board Chair Ron Gault told the council that the town secured a state water loan and reviewed recent system performance. According to Gault's report, "The Water loss report showed that millions of gallons of water were lost in the spring months. After leaks were repaired on 1800 S., only 1 million gallons per month were lost." He added the board bought a radio for far less than projected and is working on a bypass to improve the system.
Council members heard the operational update as part of the public-comments portion of the meeting. Gault noted last year's large leak occurred on December 10; the board will continue repairs and seek financing options supported by the state loan to address longer-term infrastructure needs.
