Stevenson-Carson approves school improvement plans focused on attendance, safety and writing

The Stevenson-Carson School District board on Nov. 14 approved School Improvement Plans for Stevenson High School, Wind River Middle School and Carson Elementary School.
Stevenson High School Principal Bill Schwan said the high school's priorities are Systems and Operations and 'Supporting the Journey,' with attention to facility safety and student attendance. The district has hired Lily Painter as a College and Career Readiness Advisor to help students plan post-high-school pathways. Middle School Principal Teresa Burns said WRMS is pursuing data-driven decision making and monthly reviews of student performance via PLC work. Carson Elementary Principal Sarah Dodson said staff are prioritizing writing instruction, playground safety checks before recess and social-emotional learning to reduce dysregulation.
The board voted to approve the plans; Jon Paul Anderson moved to approve and Lisa Birney seconded. The motion carried.
