Commission approves sale of old PRRC building and adjacent lots for $147,500

The commission voted to approve a contract for sale of the county-owned PRRC (old PRC) building and adjacent lots for a purchase price of $147,500.

During a public hearing, a prospective buyer thanked the commission for the process and asked for the board's approval. Clerk/staff members confirmed the sale had been noticed in the Tribune and described next steps: the signed and notarized documents will be held by escrow and closing will occur once title work is complete. "We approve the contract for sale of real estate and old PRRC building and 6 slots to the north for a purchase price of $1.47 500," the chair said aloud as the commission voted by voice.

A presenter involved with the purchase said architects are finalizing plans for about 18,000 square feet of space with updates including a new roof and an expanded break room; the contract lists July 31 as the on-or-before closing date. Commissioners and the buyer also discussed a recent fire-alarm activation at the building and confirmed the alarm was investigated and power had been temporarily disconnected during the follow-up.

Clerk/staff explained the documents must be notarized and will be held in escrow; county staff (Darcy) will coordinate signatures and the handoff of keys at closing. No further conditions or contingencies beyond the contract and standard title work were announced.

The action recorded in the meeting minutes shows the motion to approve the sale was moved, seconded, and carried by voice vote. The commission closed the public hearing after the vote and indicated further economic-development contact with the buyers would continue as the parties move toward closing.
