Resident backs regulation as Selectboard moves to finalize short-term rental ordinance

Bill Schwartz, Vice‑Chair, reviewed the draft STR ordinance and emphasized town enforcement priorities, including wastewater protections, occupancy limits, trash handling, and emergency contact requirements. Board members discussed requiring updated alarm systems and Knox-box access for properties used as short-term rentals as part of safety compliance.
The Selectboard agreed to finalize the STR ordinance at its next meeting, approve it, and post it on the town website. Members also discussed issuing an RFP for a short-term-rental administrator to manage registration and compliance. No formal vote on the ordinance text occurred at this meeting.
