Residents urge restoration of Zoom access and call for transparency in council appointment

Samantha Doering requested that a Zoom link be offered for council meetings and "expressed disappointment with the appointment process for the vacant council position and cited a lack of transparency." Rich VanDiest presented a letter asking the council to reject the pending nomination and revote for another applicant. Brett Egbert said he "did not believe members of the same family should serve on the council at the same time," and Stacey Daly and Ryan Wittig also asked the council to improve the process and restore a remote meeting platform.
The comments came during the citizen input portion of the meeting; the council took no formal action recorded in the minutes to reopen the appointment vote. The council later administered the oath of office to David Daniels for Council Position No. 5, closing the appointment process on the record.
