Shelter staff emphasized the role of volunteers and retail partnerships in recent adoption successes and community outreach. "For the past year, we have had a 100 cats adopted out of that one location [PetSmart]," Reddington said, and she added that Petco accounted for 22 adoptions in the last year while noting kennel renovations temporarily limited Petco placements.
Reddington praised volunteers—195 registered volunteers who logged 10,954 volunteer hours—and listed upcoming events where volunteers will staff outreach tables, including trade days, the Brock Holiday Market, Christmas on the Square and a Petco Love adoption event. She also shared individual adoption stories—Ritzy, Goose, Jade and Gellis—to illustrate long-term placement successes and thanked the community for support.
The committee observed a moment remembering longtime member Faye Maxwell, who had recently died; flowers were displayed at the meeting in her memory. The committee set its next meeting for Jan. 9, 2025 and adjourned after completing the agenda.
