Whisker Wednesday pilot exceeds goal; donors step forward to continue program

Animal Services Manager Kenzie Reddington told the committee that the Whisker Wednesday pilot program, which offered monthly spay/neuter clinics for community cats, exceeded its goal. "Our goal was to spay and neuter 1,200 community cats...We did reach that goal. We actually exceeded that goal. We had a total of 1,223 cats that were altered on the last Wednesday of every month for the past year," Reddington said.
Reddington said two donors, Mary Morris and Donna Badeau, have provided funds so the shelter is "working on the logistics of that" to continue the program. She described the program as popular and said calls continue, while staff evaluate how to sustain the effort within available resources.
