A commissioner proposed that the commission arrange periodic site visits to local historic properties to help members become familiar with the sites under review. The member said: "Maybe at quarterly, we go visit West Site and get permission from owners to either walk the property."
Staff responded that they would reach out to property owners and to economic development and that the state has previously provided onsite trainings. Members said in-meeting tours and occasional state-led sessions would help inform future designation and stewardship decisions.
