Clinton County to accept MDNR Recreation Passport grant, amend budget $50,000 for match

Parks and Green Space Coordinator Kyle Thornton told the board that Clinton County received a Michigan Department of Natural Resources Recreation Passport Grant to support phase one development of Clinton Trails County Park, including non-motorized trails, a vaulted toilet, and expanded parking and walkways. Because of the timing of the award, the board was asked to approve a $50,000 budget amendment in the Public Improvement Fund to fulfill the FY26 matching requirement; the committee and board approved the amendment and the associated resolution to adopt the MDNR Development Project Agreement.
Thornton said the grant will fund early construction items for the park. The board also authorized the County Administrator to sign necessary documents to accept the grant. The Parks & Green Space Department will proceed with procurement and project scheduling consistent with the MDNR agreement.
