Village officials briefed the council on a recent village-wide water outage and follow-up steps at the July 6 meeting.
Mayor Aaron Thomas said he and Village Administrator Joe Allen received the first report around 6 p.m., and staff began investigating whether a main break or other failure had occurred. Joe Allen and the utilities team found the fault in the water pumps and "corrected the problem, restoring water service village wide." Notices and a boil alert were posted to the village website, social media and sent through the village and sheriff's department emergency-notification systems.
Councilmembers discussed whether after-hours notification could be faster and suggested training council and police officers on how to send alerts when staff are not immediately available. Joe Allen said either he or Calvin will be at the plant 24/7 to monitor the pumps until tower maintenance is complete later in the week.
