Police Chief Michael Maynard delivered the department's June activity report at the Village of South Bloomfield Council meeting on July 6.
Chief Maynard summarized the month's public-safety activity: "176 traffic stops, 6 arrests, 100 citations, 9 accident reports, 40 incident reports, 1268 calls for service." He singled out Officer McCoy for work on an investigation involving three counts of kidnapping and said the department has been active in community outreach to children about safe riding of bikes and scooters.
Maynard also reported positive resident feedback after the department's patrol truck appeared in the Ashville Fourth of July parade and said early results from a Go-HR pay study indicate the department's pay scale appears to be at the low end compared with peer municipalities. The chief said there were no major incidents related to fireworks this year.
