Commissioners expand budget-review committee, invite public participation

Commissioner Walden moved, and the court approved, a motion to allow broader court participation on departmental reviews while limiting membership so committee meetings do not constitute a quorum. Commissioners discussed rotating assignments, identifying departments for review, and assigning court members to those reviews.
The court also approved a proposal to add three public-at-large slots (for a total of four public spots) on the budget-review committee and to post those meetings online to increase transparency. Commissioners emphasized that the committee will continue to make recommendations to the full court and will not have independent decision-making authority.
Staff was directed to coordinate assembling the list of departments and prospective committee members and return with appointment recommendations for formal approval.
