The Lawrence County Commission agreed to facilitate the transfer of a fire truck from the City of Spearfish to the Nemo Fire Department and to take temporary county ownership to enable the transfer to the department as a 501(c)(3). Deputy State’s Attorney Bruce Outka reviewed statutes relevant to the transfer (SDCL 6‑5‑1, 6‑5‑2 and 7‑18‑23) during the discussion.
The motion (moved Tysdal, second Ewing) directs the county to take necessary steps to accept and reassign the vehicle to Nemo Fire Department; the record notes the county will facilitate documentation and the legal review required under state law.
