NCTCOG official outlines aging services, requests federal funding for Parker County

Donnie Green, representing the North Central Texas Council of Governments' Area Agency on Aging, told the Parker County Commissioners Court the agency provides information, referrals and direct services to older residents and caregivers and that most of the programs are federally funded. He described eligibility as generally age 60 and older, with caregiver exceptions, and said services are provided at no charge to qualifying residents.
Green listed programs that include benefits counseling, case management for post-hospital transitions, home modifications, veteran support and fall-prevention classes. He said the agency frequently funds local partners through pass-through grants: "During the prior fiscal year, we passed through $265,586 to Parker County Committee on Aging for its Meals on Wheels program," Green said, noting 518 clients benefited from congregate or meal-delivery services. He also reported $18,503 was passed through for transportation that served 27 clients last year.
Green said the agency targets older adults with economic or social need and referenced regional federal funding for fiscal year 2026: "For the current fiscal year, federal fiscal year 2026, our request is $7,115," he said. He encouraged commissioners to direct residents and caregivers to the Area Agency on Aging and to continue local support for partner organizations. The court thanked Green and had no further action beyond receiving the report.
