Testing shows one elevated lead and one BOD result; permit application ready to assemble
Summary
At the July 28 Joint Lake & River Restoration Committee meeting, staff reported one test location with elevated lead and one BOD result above screening levels but said these findings "did not necessarily prevent the project from moving forward." Staff will assemble and submit the permit application.
King reported that the committee had received analytical testing results for the proposed 2026 project areas and that "one test location contained elevated lead levels and one BOD result exceeded the screening level." He said the remaining results were acceptable and that the elevated results "did not necessarily prevent the project from moving forward."
King also told the Committee that "all required testing had been completed for the proposed 2026 project areas and that the permit application could now be assembled and submitted." Committee members noted that EGLE may request additional sampling at the locations with elevated readings and discussed how that could affect the schedule. King said he would contact EGLE about a site visit during the drawdown and complete the permit application for submission.
