Administration proposes $80M in public-safety grants for Memphis, including $50M downtown program

He said the package is split into three grant programs: $50,000,000 to continue a downtown safety grant program, $15,000,000 for evidence-based violent-crime deterrence and victim support, and $15,000,000 for workforce-development programs aimed at high-risk adults and youth.
Members asked how the grants would be administered and whether they would pass through entities such as the Downtown Memphis Commission, city government or the sheriff’s office. Bryson said the Office of Criminal Justice Programs in F&A would administer the grants and pledged to provide more detail about eligible recipients and whether particular grants are reimbursable.
