Yates County Emergency Services updates EMS Week, specialty rescue hearing and equipment changes

Ryan Bailey and David Dowdle briefed the committee on Emergency Services items and asked the committee to forward two resolutions to the Legislative Meeting: designating May 17–23, 2026, as Emergency Medical Services Week and setting a date for a public hearing on specialty rescue teams authorization. The Committee raised no official objections to forwarding those resolutions.
Dowdle said the county will not receive three Durango vehicles as previously expected but only one, and the CIP will be updated to reflect that change. He described Department of Health equipment-policy changes that affected ambulance supplies: crews now must carry one backboard, disposable carbon monoxide detectors good for two years, and a different supraglottic airway for pediatric patients; some pediatric consumables (eye gels) were substituted because original products were unavailable. "Not getting three Durango’s, only getting one," Bailey said during the CIP update.
