Elaine, who prepared the token proposal as Fair Board Treasurer, described how volunteers and pouring organizations would be paid for beers they serve and how cash tips would be handled, but members expressed lingering concerns about card-tip distribution and whether unused tokens could be perceived as additional revenue to the fair. Elaine moved to recommend approval of using tokens at the Beer Garden and the evening events for the 2026 Teton County Fair; Amy seconded. The motion failed on a 3-3 vote. The board did not adopt the tokens plan and scheduled further discussion for April.
Board members emphasized ensuring strict ID checks and minimizing congestion if tokens are used in future. Staff noted there are currently no physical contracts with pouring entities, and any token program would need clarified agreements with volunteer groups.
