Krebs council approves routine claims, purchases and personnel contract actions

At its June 16 meeting at the Gene Heathcock Community Center, the Krebs City Council approved a bundle of routine items including the May 12 minutes and the month's claims. Councilmember Jeanetta Hauck moved to approve the minutes and various claims; the motions carried by voice vote.
Councilmembers approved a one-time $1,800 implementation fee and an $1,800 annual cost for the gWORK Program financial hub for the treasurer, authorized purchase of a DELCO 2019 equipment trailer for $6,000 for Street and Alley, and approved a building permit for Lot 14 in Pittsburg County Townsite Addition No. 9. The council also voted to change the classification of Krebs volunteer firemen from 1099 contractors to W-2 employees. Motions passed by recorded or voice votes as noted in the meeting minutes.
Treasurer Micheal Fulgium addressed a questioned line item for senior meal deliveries, saying the payment "has not been sent out yet because it is for next year’s budget and the 2026-2027 budget has not been approved yet." The council approved a contract with the McAlester Nutrition Center to deliver meals to about 15 Krebs residents daily at an annual delivery cost of $4,268.
The council accepted City Attorney Ronnie May’s 2026-2027 contract and, separately, voted not to renew the contract of City Accountant Mike Kern. The accountant vote was split: Dan Heathcock opposed; the other four members voted to discontinue the contract.
