Board staff used Pike Place Market as a case study to illustrate how expanded outdoor authorizations operate in a concentrated urban setting. Caitlin Goovey said the Market’s expanded outdoor alcohol service area runs from June 5 through Sept. 6 on Fridays–Sundays, that streets inside the approved area were closed to vehicles until 4 p.m., and that the Market had about 20 participating licensees.
Goovey noted the public GIS map includes pins for participating licensees and that the map initially showed 21 participants but has dropped to 20 as some licensees applied or dropped out. A board member asked what bolding or an asterisk on the map indicated; Goovey explained the mark signified licensees who were pending application at the time the screenshot was created.
Staff said most participating Seattle licensees are at Pike Place Market and that the map allows users to click pins to see trade names and details. The LCB will keep the map updated and made it available on the expanded alcohol services webpage.
