District Chief Matt Peterson told the board the county received notice of a $176,622 award from the Office of Wildland Fire, funded through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, intended "to purchase and mount multiple skid units for existing vehicles within the county to increase firefighting capability."
Commissioners moved and seconded acceptance of the award; the motion passed. Commissioner (speaker 3) asked for clarification and staff confirmed that accepting a grant award does not by itself authorize expenditure and that purchases must follow applicable purchasing policy going forward.
