Tenant tells council Truscott unit has black mold and seeks stronger remediation

Renee Menzies, who said she has lived in Truscott for six years, told the council she has experienced chronic health impacts and persistent moisture and black mold in her unit. “I've spent over $5,000 getting this done on my own money,” Menzies said, and later reported medical-test results showing her mycotoxin levels were “4 times the regular level.”
Council members asked that Menzies meet with property-manager staff after the meeting for details and requested APHA (the housing authority) provide updates; staff present said remediation must continue and that there may be disagreement between parties about extent of conditions. Councilors requested APHA reporting on the condition of other Truscott units and asked staff to provide a path for weekly or periodic updates if council directs it.
