County approves Banner amendment to extend Samara Avenue engineering work after delays

Commissioners approved an amendment to the Banner Associates owner‑engineered agreement for the Samara Avenue reconstruction project after staff explained the project had exceeded its original schedule. The department director said the amendment increases Banner's contract amount to cover additional engineering work and identified the third construction phase window: "The 3rd phase will be done between July 6 and September 4 of this coming construction season," the director said.
Staff added that the county expects to recover much of the additional engineering expense through penalties assessed to the prime contractor for delay on the Bose contract. The board approved the amendment on a roll call vote and directed staff to continue project oversight and coordinate with Banner on timelines and punch list items for remaining work.
