Porter trustees approve up to $1,800 for two chain saws to support public works

Supervisor Jackie Todd told the board that "right now they need two chain saws," and estimated the cost of the saws at "about $1,500, without any extra chains." Mayor Steve Dickey moved to purchase the saws and extra chains, and Norma Meyer seconded the motion. Trustees Ryan Moore, Steve Dickey, Norma Meyer and Kevin Walker voted yes; there were no no votes. The motion carried.
Board members framed the purchase as a practical response to field staffing needs discussed during an executive session on employee evaluations. The buying limit set by the motion — not to exceed $1,800 — covers the two saws plus replacement chains, according to the motion language recorded in the minutes.
The board did not attach conditions or a staff report to the purchase during the meeting; Supervisor Jackie Todd will continue compiling a list of equipment the town needs for future consideration.
