The Blackford County Council on Dec. 4 approved additional appropriations for the county Planning & Zoning office, voting 5–1 to provide $1,500 for Extra Help and unanimously to provide $1,000 for legal advertising.
Planning & Zoning representative Anne Owen requested $1,800 for Extra Help but agreed to reduce the request to $1,500 during the meeting; the motion to approve $1,500 was made by Councilor Patrick Cale and seconded by Jim Weiseman and passed 5–1. The $1,000 appropriation for legal advertising was approved on a motion by Jim Weiseman, seconded by Patrick Cale, by a 6–0 vote.
During the public comment period, resident Dennis Layman raised concerns about the P&Z office’s operations and separately voiced worry about the signing of wind and solar documents. The minutes record Layman’s concerns but do not show a formal response from Council or staff in this meeting.
The measures were recorded in the meeting minutes and will be reflected in the county’s budget records; no additional implementation steps were specified in the minutes.
