The board opened with student recognition. Jill McWilliams, counselor at Anderson New Tech, presented Ryan Jones as student of the month and praised his growth and leadership: "Ryan is a student willing to learn, willing to work and willing to help," McWilliams said (SEG 053–056). Staff emphasized his mentorship role, academic improvement and involvement in athletics.
Student representatives from Anderson, West Valley and other sites reported on end-of-year activities, senior events, arts performances and athletics. Lily Jean O'Reilly (Anderson ASB president) highlighted track athletes advancing to section and state meets and upcoming senior events (SEG 476–514). West Valley student reporters noted 276 students maintained a 3.5 GPA or higher this year and multiple section championships across spring sports (SEG 576–616). Trustees thanked students and staff for their leadership and community involvement.
Why it matters: student recognition and student reports give the board and public a sense of student achievement, campus morale, and upcoming dates families should note.
What's next: the board will support upcoming commencement, senior rallies and arts events announced by student representatives; staff will coordinate logistics as needed.
