Elko County Transit reports 6,395 trips in quarter but notes staffing pressures

An Elko County Transit representative (Speaker 12) reported quarterly performance and grant updates to the RTC. For the July 1–Sept. 30 reporting period the agency conducted 6,395 trips and recorded 6,438 passenger boardings; the presenter said 3,690 of those trips were for passengers classified as disabled and that total revenue miles were 37,566 with 2,756 revenue hours.
"We transported, about 6,395 or we did 6,395 trips. Of those, the total passenger count was 6,438," the transit representative said. The presenter attributed a roughly 3.5% drop in trips to staffing shortages and reported operating costs of $306,875 (a 14% increase) with total revenue about $274,000. The agency said NDOT has released funds for new software the transit provider applied for last year and that it has grant funding to spend in the next fiscal year.
Transit said it had two driver vacancies and expected at least one driver to start on Oct. 20. The commission thanked the transit staff for the report and suggested submitting written material for the permanent record.
