NDOT outlines Spring Creek roundabout completion, Halleck bridges replacement, and multi-use path plans

Darren Dyke, assistant district engineer for the Elko subdistrict of the Nevada Department of Transportation, gave the commission an overview of current and near-term projects in Elko County.
"Our rare projects are contract 4524 Spring Creek Roundabout... We are replacing structures B 1119 and B 1120," Dyke said, noting the Halleck Bridges replacement (contract 4544) is a 220-working-day project scheduled to start Nov. 3. He also listed Oasis-to-Pilot-Peak mill-and-fill (spring 2026) and a mill-and-fill at Waugees Junction on US-93 that will extend into Elko County.
Dyke described maintenance work planned or underway: SR-227 mastic repairs and restriping timed after the roundabout completion, SR-228 shoulder repairs and new guideposts, the Montello chip seal (SR-233) from Montello to the state line, and permitting work for a five-phase Lamoille-to-Carlin multi-use path whose first phase is planned in roughly two years.
Commissioners thanked NDOT for progress on county priorities, and the chair asked NDOT to pass appreciation along to construction crews for work that improves safety and travel efficiency.
