At the start of the session the Chair asked the board to invite state or NACO representatives to explain the planned split of Nevada’s Department of Health and Human Services into a Nevada Health Authority and a Department of Human Services and to outline anticipated Medicaid changes for fiscal year 2026 and how those changes will affect rural counties.
The Chair said the board would like to hear how federal and state funding — including funds previously received for rural Nevada hospitals — will be distributed. “We will, get someone here from NACO or from the state to talk about the splitting of the DHHS into the Nevada Health Authority and the Department of Human Services to make sure that we all understand that and how it affects rural Nevada,” the Chair said.
Later the board considered the consent agenda and voted to approve the minutes by voice vote; Chair declared the motion carried after three recorded ayes. The meeting had no public comments and adjourned after brief board remarks.
