During the Elko County Board of Health meeting, Steve Simpson announced two new specialists who will provide services in Elko County.
Simpson said the hospital has signed Dr. Michael Griffith, an ophthalmologist who will travel monthly from Tooele, Utah to perform cataract procedures and YAG laser treatments, and Dr. Joseph Drew, a urologist who will restore local urology care since Dr. Brown retired in 2023.
Simpson noted the community has lacked a local urologist since Dr. Brown's retirement and said the additions will expand access for conditions such as urinary tract issues, kidney and bladder stones, vasectomies and prostate care. The board offered thanks; no formal action was taken.
