City Manager Kimberly Greer told the Johns Creek City Council that January produced major milestones advancing the city's town‑center plan and transportation improvements.
Greer said the city participated in a formal groundbreaking for the mixed‑use Medley development and that work on the Town Center boardwalk advanced after the arrival of the first large crane and installation of hundreds of helical piles for the elevated deck. She also highlighted safety‑focused work on Abbotts Bridal Road to correct substandard vertical and horizontal curvature to improve pedestrian and cyclist accommodations.
Greer added that the police and fire departments activated the third floor of City Hall as an emergency operations center during a Jan. 10 winter storm and that the city released a request for proposals to obtain cost estimates for construction, operations and maintenance of a potential performing arts center; staff will present that information to council by the April 14 work session.
