Neighbor raises privacy concerns over deck expansion; staff says trees on adjacent lot not part of project

Reddy said he lives opposite the property and that the trees provide privacy: "We we just wanna make sure that, there is no privacy loss between the subdivision right across the street versus the subdivision." Staff responded that the photos show trees on the adjacent lot and that "those trees that you're seeing in the pictures are on the adjacent lot, and so that has no control associated with this project," adding that no trees are proposed to be removed as part of the deck project.
Staff and the chair noted ownership and removal of the neighbor's trees would be a separate issue and subject to the city's tree ordinances; the board's variance decision did not grant or require any change to adjacent-lot vegetation.
