County Administrator Lee Engfer presented the annual solid-waste permit renewals and identified one operator—Bob Fort/Green Earth Recycling—that is in litigation for failing to apply for a 2025 permit. Engfer recommended approval of permits for compliant companies, including Wm. Miller Scrap; GFL Solid Waste; Hilltopper Refuse and Recycling; Johnson Roll-off; King Scrap; Toss and Go Roll-offs; Toy’s Scrap; Tri-City Sanitation; D & D Disposal/Wabasha Rubbish Removal; Waste Management/La Crosse; and Jared Cyrus/Waste Transport.
The committee voted on a motion by Brian Michaels, seconded by Max Weiss, to approve the listed permits while excluding Bob Fort/Green Earth Recycling. Engfer said Waste Management/Eau Claire’s permit was recommended pending receipt of payment; if payment is not received, the permit can be suspended next month.
