Highway superintendent names new foreman and secures commitment letters for bridge repairs

John Pluimer, Blackford County Highway Superintendent, introduced Dave Dow as the department’s new foreman; Dow is scheduled to start Jan. 1, 2025. Pluimer said long‑time foreman Mike Daniel will retire at the end of 2024.
Pluimer asked the board to sign two Financial Commitment letters to support repairs to Bridge 56 and Bridge 57. President Lancaster moved to sign the letters; Commissioner Borgenheimer seconded and the motion passed 3/0. Pluimer also reported that 500 E was closed that day and that an on‑site inspection of Bridge 23 completed Stage 1.
