The Buffalo County Finance Committee discussed proposed four-year wage schedules for three elected offices — Sheriff, Clerk of Court and Coroner — during its Feb. 19 meeting. County Administrator Lee Engfer told the committee the proposals use the same 20-county percentile methodology applied to other employee groups, and that the recommended 2027–2030 figures would amount to a 22.36% increase for the Sheriff and a 15.8% increase for the Clerk of Court over the four-year term.
Sheriff Osmond spoke remotely to urge parity or preference relative to the Highway Commissioner’s pay, saying his office should be compared to other counties when setting compensation. Clerk of Court Julie Vollmer provided an update on her office’s staff and work; committee members discussed coroner per-diem and noted mileage is paid at the federal rate. Engfer said final wage amounts will be set at the committee’s March meeting, pending compilation of additional comparable data.
